INTRODUCING…: Banjos And Blood
My sincere thanks are due to the guys at Metal State for showing me this project. Go and check them out, they run a tight ship full of great articles.
UPDATE: New track exchanged within the post. Check it out!
Some things are born awesome, some things achieve awesomeness and other things exceed all possible beliefs when you first hear about them. Blood And Banjos rather neatly fall into the latter of the three categories, a project started up by Mike and Andrew after one particularly eventful conversation leading them to decide to form a band blending bluesgrass music and black metal. Yes, I’ll let you read that again.
Bluesgrass and black metal, two of the most polarized genres on the guitar-oriented spectrum, are coming together to make ‘metalgrass’. There are five people involved in this project (you can read their bios here), all playing a variety of instruments and providing various vocal approaches. I’ve also learned that it’s going to be a concept album, although the details of the plot are still being worked out. It sounds like it’s going to be a manic release when it happens. Stay tuned, I’ll let you know what’s going on when I do.
For now, there’s a demo track which has been released, apparently not completely akin to the final product in mind, but it should give a vague idea as to where they’re headed. Have a listen below!

*Yes, I am aware there are many different kinds of black metal, I went with the traditional stereotyped one.
